Lincoln Marine Science Centre ??" a rock solid development!

Construction of the Lincoln Marine Science Centre expansion is well underway, despite builders recently battling tonnes of granite and 130 kilometre winds.

Project Manager, Ben Johnson, says most of the footings have been completed, and the suspended slab of the main floor on the building’s second storey will start soon.

The $6.6 million project, on track to be finished by June 2008, will almost double the size of the current centre, house an additional 35 scientists and educational staff, and cater for increased student numbers.

The redevelopment includes three massive 27,000 litre rainwater tanks which have been installed under the building. The tanks will hold enough water to service the entire building.

The Centre, which overlooks Port Lincoln’s beautiful Boston Bay, will be finished in a natural timber cladding so that it blends in well with its sea swept surroundings.
